How do People Proclaim Their Love on Valentine's Day?

In my opinion, Valentine’s Day is similar to a disease, the romantic mood spreads everywhere like a wildfire, everyone gets addicted to this romantic feeling.

The most common gifts that couples and non-couples would start their spending spree are boxes of chocolates, bouquet of flowers or a stalk of red rose with beautifully transparent wrappers, Valentine’s Day cards and special gifts for their love ones.

Some passionate lovers may proclaim their love to their partner ( or spouse ) boldly and romantically , using love poems or love sayings in newspaper advertisements, billboard, writing on the beach sands, dedicate through radio stations or expressing loudly in public places. These are great and useful methods to capture your partner (or spouse ) heart immediately, receiving spontaneous positive actions.

Brief history of Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day was formerly known as St. Valentine’s Day or Feast of St. Valentine which is celebrated yearly on the 14th February worldwide.

It was believed that a Christian saint by the name of St. Valentinus had performed various weddings for soldiers who were not allowed to marry and helped the Christian prisoners who were persecuted due to religious beliefs under the Roman Empire.

Hence, St. Valentine was arrested and imprisoned due to the kind deeds he had performed against the Roman Empire. According to legend history, St. Valentinus had healed the daughter of a fellow prisoner; Asterius during his imprisonment.

Before his execution, he wrote a farewell note to her by signing off “From your Valentine”. Therefore, St. Valentine’s Day was created in honor of this Saint and everyone followed his tradition to this day, by writing love poems, love sayings to their love ones.

By the 15th century, St. Valentine’s Day or Valentine’s Day was gradually developed into giving gifts such as flowers, sweet food and greeting cards with love poems, quotes and sayings to capture love one’s heart.

Choose Suitable Valentine's Day Poem or Sayings

If you are secretly in love with someone, would like to bare your heart to your spouse (partner) or let your family members know how much you love him (her), Valentine’s Day is the perfect time for you to show how special and unique the other party is.

Besides buying special gifts and flowers, do invest some time in buying the perfect Valentine’s Day card or you could even handmade your own card. Put in an extra effort by choosing the unique and best Valentine’s Day Poem or sayings which suits your love ones.

You can either write the love poems with your own handwriting in the store bought cards or handmade cards to show your sincerity. If you think you write like a doctor ( scribble handwriting, barely readable ), print them out on colorful construction paper, cut it out and paste the poem in the card. Add a keepsake or a lipstick smooch onto the card to show your love.

Be choosy and think carefully which love poem is able to put in your deep thoughts and feelings into a clearer speech of your own. It is not easy to self construct your own poem but using these poems could save your time and effort. Use Valentine’s Day sayings to express your love to your family members or appreciate deep friendship to your friends how much you care and cherish this love.

Poem No.1

On Valentine's Day,
I'm thinking about
the special ways
you have made my life better.
The little things,
the not-so-little things...
Your kindness,
the way you always listen
and pay attention to me.
You make my world brighter and richer.
You're a gift to me,
and I thank you for being you.
-By Joanna Fuchs

Poem No. 2

My Valentine, you're all I want;
In you, I find joy and delight;
You give me everything I need;
I'm happiest when you're in sight.
I think of you both night and day;
I'm drawn to you in pure attraction;
When you're not here, I ache for you,
For your fulfilling satisfaction.
I dreamed of love like this, and yet,
I never thought that I would capture
The deep, exciting thrills we have,
This intoxicating bliss and rapture.
Please be my Valentine, and more;
Be my life, my world, my all;
Together we can be content,
And share life's pleasures, big and small.
-Anonymous

Even if the sun refused to shine
Even if romance ran out of rhyme

Till the end of time
I Love You

Poem No. 4

You've given me a reason
For smiling once again,
You've filled my life with peaceful dreams
and you've become my closest friend.

You've shared your heartfelt secrets
And your trust you've given me,
You showed me how to feel again
To laugh, and love, and see.

If life should end tomorrow
And from this world I should part,
I shall be forever young
For you have touched my heart

Valentines is near
Just wishing you were here

My debt to you, Belovèd,
Is one I cannot pay
In any coin of any realm
On any reckoning day.
- Jessie B. Rittenhouse

Poem No. 5

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date:
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimm'd;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance or nature's changing course untrimm'd;
But thy eternal summer shall not fade
Nor lose possession of that fair thou owest;
Nor shall Death brag thou wander'st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou growest:
So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,
So long lives this and this gives life to thee.

- William Shaespeare
